In 2023, Johatsu embarked on a groundbreaking project to develop the NHS Capital & Infrastructure model. Tasked with providing an accurate representation of every capital asset within the NHS, we created a comprehensive model to forecast the next 25 years of space requirements. This model meticulously accounted for every NHS service, analyzing activity, capacity, utilization, and current space. Integrating health building notes, ERIC data, and every stream of activity within the NHS. By constructing a detailed workbook and model, we enabled precise forecasts for various scenarios, such as evolving maternity care techniques. For instance, as women increasingly have births later in life, our model adjusts the maternity ward requirements accordingly, predicting changes in the type of maternity delivery needed. This forward-thinking approach ensures the NHS can effectively plan for future space needs and adapt to changing healthcare demands.
